My List

A while back, Amy of doubleh-vay invited me to join her in making a kind of mini "life list" or "bucket list"--things you want to do in this life, but with a shorter time frame, like before your next birthday, and in the spirit of what is real and doable and of being good to yourself. I thought it was a charming idea! And I love a good list, so here we go.

Before I turn 44 (eek!) I would like to . . .
:: Shop my home "library." E.g., make use of some of the lovely books I own but have never used. Especially some of my cookbooks and craft books I thumb through longingly but never get around to.
:: Learn to knit on double pointed needles.
:: Make a dress.
:: Try two new vegetables from farmer's market that I've never tried before.
:: Have a little tea party with Dieter and Rainer. Use a selection from Faith's old tea sets. If I do this soon maybe we'll use the Christmas set. Make mini-cupcakes or a mini-bundt.
:: Celebrate Ken's and my "first date" anniversary.
:: Write a letter to a friend. Mail it.
:: Wear striped tights.
:: Wear more dresses.
:: Make a new apron.
:: Go on a picnic with the family. Not a Subway picnic--a real picnic, with hand pies.
:: Donate money to a cause I believe in.
:: Make boats from walnut shells with the boys, or bark boats, and sail them the next time we go hiking.
:: teach Dieter to play board games.
:: Have a family game night.
:: Try at least one recipe from Nigella Express, Apples for Jam, and Appetite, all of which I own but don't use.

That's it for now. Short and doable. What about you?

love your list - and what a great idea. I just bought some gorgeous striped knee high socks, not quite as funky as tights, but....
great idea to use your home library too, I promised myself a recipe a week in January, and have failed.... must try again!

What a fabulous idea. I think I am going to steal your walnut boat idea for my boys.

You can always replace DPNs with one long circular (magic loop.)

It sounds lovely. Very inspirational to have such a great attitude, especially after all you have been through.

I love the boats from walnut shells or bark idea! What a simple way to create a lifetime lovely memory. After all, that is what the bucket list is about... memories.

So happy you are all home and life is getting back to normal.

Also Love your list:-)

I made one of 40 things to do before I'm 40 on my blog...but based on recent days, I'll be lucky to do half of them.

But now I want to add family game night to the list!

Oh, "Apples for Jam" - I have it also because I was crazy crazy crazy for it a few years ago & didn't want anything else for Christmas! It's so very beautiful & ... ummm... sitting on my shelf gathering dust! What's with that?! I don't actually know if I've ever cooked *anything* from it!

Love your bucket-list & will put "writing a bucket-list" on my big-bucket-list-o-things to do ;)

p.s So happy to hear that your little one is home & feeling better. x
