I love notebooks and organizers. Lately, I've been trying to come up with the perfect system. Last year I bought a simple spiral bound notebook to carry with me in my work bag so I could jot down ideas at work. It turned out to be a wonderful idea. I have to admit, it was a bit messy and unplanned, but I loved having my notebook with me all the time and I used it so much.
Here's last year's notebook with the pocket full of clippings and inspiration. On the pages I wrote down ideas for blog posts, holiday planning and various lists. This year I'm starting with a fresh notebook (the old one is completely filled, which is actually very satisfying). I've been working out a system for organizing every day--something tailor made to my needs, but easy to jot down daily. Here is what I have come up with:
In the left column, I have my to-do list, with the top 3 priorities written in the top left corner. Those, plus all the other to-do's, are listed underneath, and there is a place at the bottom left for my blog post. On the right top there is a little corner for thankfulness, so that every day I remember to write down several things for which I am grateful. It is so easy and fun and I have really enjoyed having a set place and time for this daily mindfulness. Under that, I list what I am eating that day because--wow--I have really been successful this summer in using this method to lose weight. Then at the bottom of the page there is room for the day/date. I'm loving this system. I thought I'd share it in case it inspires you to set up something similar for your needs. This works for summer; I may make some changes when I go back to work.
Here's a page in action. On the adjacent sheet is notes about anything. Dieter drew a sun, with much coaxing and encouragement from me. Art is not his "thing" I guess. Ken and I are going to make peach jam tonight (the peaches are ready). Off I go!
