Here's the recipe for those of you who asked:
Basic Waffles
2 cups flour [I've been experimenting with a combination of white, wheat, and almond meal. Today's batch was 1 c. white, 3/4 c. whole wheat, and 1/4 c. almond meal. Next week I'll switch the proportions of white and wheat].
2T. sugar
1 T. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 3/4 c. milk
6 T. canola oil
2 large eggs
Mix all the ingredients together and then let stand for 5 minutes. Pour by 1/3 c. onto preheated waffle maker.
Enjoy!

I should make waffles , easy& so yummy
Instead of syrup I've always put applesauce on my waffles--it is so tasty and a great way to sweeten the waffles and add fruits in to the day!
mmmm, cant wait to try your recipe! we are on the hunt for our favortie waffle recipe :)
What a great idea to use almond meal, I bet it tastes super yummy! We usually go for yogurt mixed with fruit, or applesauce, or sometimes I take a bag of frozen blueberries and add a teeny bit of water and just cook them down until they are nice and syrupy (this is everybody's favourite).
We love coconut oil on ours and a tad bit of pure maple syrup - YUM! I'm going to email you...
Looks delish! Can you post a bit about your philosophy on feeding you family? I am lost in the Bermuda triangle of healthy/inexpensive/quick. It seems that choosing one often leaves out the other two, and I'd love to hear about where you focus!xoxoxo

We'll try your waffles in the morning. Here are our favorite waffles.... not so healthy! http://mamabeefromthehive.blogspot.com/2009/05/famers-market-in-our-kitchen.html
We often use a berry puree instead of syrup. Plus we never pour the syrup on the pancake. i give each kid a soy sauce dish with about a tablespoon of syrup in it for them to dip. They love the activity and the bowls and it helps us give them only a limited amount.
We just recently made the switch from "syrup" to the pure maple variety in medium amber....so much better, but a bit pricey. We love waffles with strawberries or strawberry jam on top.
Thanks for this interesting recipe, I´m going to try this soon. Yesterday I did make muffins with bana and from wholewheat flour, instead of sugar I use rice syrup. it was wondeful, I really enjoyed it.
