I've been tagged

Hannah at Craftykin tagged me for a pretty fun meme--

What's your current obsession?
I'm always obsessing about something. Right now today? Soulemama's new book which arrived in the mail on Wednesday. I'm a huge Soulemama fan and her new book is lovely.

What are you wearing today?
Tank top from Target, new skirt I recently made (as above), Dansko sandals (these ones) in celery.

What's for dinner?
Actually, I'm not sure yet but I recently printed out this recipe and this one so maybe one of those.

What would you eat for your last meal?
Oh my gosh, I am so lowbrow . . . burger, fries and a shake? Of high quality, of course.

What's the last thing you bought?
Hmm, probably the Soulemama book. I have the 3191 evenings book pre-order form open in a different tab even as I write this . . . I'm tempted.

What are you listening to right now?
Very embarrassing, again. I seem to only listen to what the little boys are into--which at the moment is Jan and Dean and The Beatles. They adore "Dead Man's Curve." Their favorite Beatles song is "Misery". I think that's funny.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
I'd love to be plonked down in one of the beautiful German parks Angelina blogged about when she was there. I'd want Ken and the little boys with me, of course.

Which language do you want to learn?
Spanish, for work. Otherwise German, because I'm hoping we can take a trip to Germany someday. Angelina's posts from Germany certainly have spurred me along in hoping for such a trip.

What do you love most about where you currently live?
Our town is pretty cute and small-ish. Every Wednesday during summer (or for 6 weeks of it, anyway) there is a band concert in the park. This is the first year we went to all six of them and it was really sweet. Very innocent and pure, with lots of balloons and children's marches and high excitement for the little boys.

What is your favorite color?
It's hard to choose just one, isn't it? I am very fond of green, though.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
I don't really have an iconic piece of clothing that I love. I do have a pair of J. Crew boots purchased maybe 9 or 10 years ago that have really stood the test of time. Does that count? I'm wearing them in my profile pic. I'd love to buy a beautiful fitted coat but have a hard time justifying it since it doesn't get very cold here. I will one day, though.

Chocolate or vanilla?
Definitely chocolate.

What were you doing 10 years ago?
I had just finished my nursing degree and was working as a hospital nurse on a cardiac floor. Stressful. Jacob and Faith were little and I was a divorced mom. Thinking of them at that age and our lives together and mothering them makes me smile. I had just moved from Kansas to California, though, and was very upset about that. It took me a good year or so to adjust (and then I met Ken!).

If you had $100 now, what would you spend it on?
An acorn cakelet pan and then the rest on books. (Oh, I see that the acorn cakelet pan has been taken down. Oh well. It was very cute. I had envisioned making fall muffins in it . . .)

What are you going to do after this?
It's later now. Ken is lying down with the boys to get them to go to sleep and then we are going to watch Grey's Anatomy on DVD. It's a summer pleasure--we mostly don't watch any "shows" during the school year.

What are your favorite films?
The Princess Bride, Sideways, Practical Magic . . .

What inspires you?
Seeing what others are up to on their blogs, original and colorful homes online, watching my children be themselves, reading "domestic" type fiction, people's everyday kindnesses, confidence, competence

Your favorite books?
I Capture the Castle, Operating Instructions, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Stargirl

Do you collect anything?
I love books, fabrics, things for the nature table, especially thrifted things. I don't really "collect" though.

What makes you follow a blog?
Pretty pictures, down-to-earthness, inspiring crafts, ideas for everyday cooking

What was the most enjoyable thing you did today?
We ate early, which I love, so after dinner the boys played outside and I picked flowers and changed out the indoor bouquets. It was a sweet time and I enjoyed watching the boys play.

What is on the top of your to-do list?
Setting up my work situation so I can stay home with Rainer on the days he has to take steroids (5 days a month). He can't handle daycare on those days.

What's your favorite time of day and why?
Morning, because I'm more energetic then and I love the feeling of potential when starting a new day.

Thanks, Hannah, that was fun!
