The only thing I can think of that you are missing and that it really adds flavor to your rice is a garlic clove. Add it at the beginning when you saute the rice, onions and carrots. I like using organic chicken broth on mine. another tip, try it with jasmine rice, it comes out fluffier and with a slightly sweet taste. and at our house we love to add a dab of my homemade spicy salsa (still have tons frozen from my mixed chilly harvest last year)
=)Lisa Renatahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10496988694571275714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8224074171829015497.post-24555290703403215892010-04-26T15:11:31.082-07:002010-04-26T15:11:31.082-07:00oh, this looks so good! i like spanish rice, but i...oh, this looks so good! i like spanish rice, but i've never made it. now i can't wait to give it a try! :)sheer whimsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07619784619834046462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8224074171829015497.post-17447383712975162782010-04-26T09:37:09.168-07:002010-04-26T09:37:09.168-07:00I was never a fan of Sapnish rice, but yours looks...I was never a fan of Sapnish rice, but yours looks yummy, so maybe I will try. All I have is brown basmati rice so I'll report back on it.

We stopped going to our farmer's market for the same reasons and opted for a CSA share instead. We do a half share to make it a little cheaper and then grow the remainder in our home garden. I have mixed feelings: I'm glad more people are supporting farmers markets but it is very frustrating/impossible to go with little kids.melissa s.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17767276171724800126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8224074171829015497.post-46840765410145155492010-04-26T07:30:02.850-07:002010-04-26T07:30:02.850-07:00That rice looks so good! But I love the idea of tomato sauce and broth (with mixed in veggies)...my kiddos are not spicy eaters yet either.
So bummed to hear about the state of your local farmers market--hope they get it together soon. :-( I think the CSA is a great idea too, hope you have better luck with that.
<3Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01247435580507783428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8224074171829015497.post-87566612348086845562010-04-26T05:37:12.086-07:002010-04-26T05:37:12.086-07:00Rain--that is a good idea. We have a small veg. garden and use a c.s.a. to supplement. With our large family we go through a ton of produce.
