palm springs trip

Ken and I had the awesomest trip to Palm Springs last week!  We were celebrating our 11th anniversary and we didn't take the kids.  Can you sense why it was awesome?

This is the second year that we stayed at Ace Hotel Palm Springs.  We love it there.  It has such a special, unique vibe.  We feel warmly welcome, even though most of the guests are much younger and much hipper than we.  Basically it is us, young beautiful tattooed people, and lots of cute gay couples.  But everyone treats us normal and I love the feel of the place.  One of the things I particularly like is the good design all throughout the hotel.  They don't try to make it look green and verdant.  Rather, the gorgeous desert landscape is played up.  Also, the attached restaurant is innovative and delicious.  They serve french press coffee and the best kale salad ever.

We spent our days lounging and reading by the pool, going on a hike (we rode the aerial tramway up to the cool mountain top), seeing two movies, eating out, and spending a lot of quality time together.  It is amazing to reconnect and spend time without kids.  I'm so grateful for my parents and older kids for watching the little boys.  Thanks, all!

I very much want to get back to blogging in this space, but summer is turning out to be nearly as busy feeling as the school year.  I do want to return to this space soon with more posts so hopefully I will.  Meanwhile, thanks for reading!

Oh, how I love these pictures...they make me want to leave my desk, pack my suitcase and head to somewhere warm and sunny :-)
I can relate to the feeling when being on vacation without kids, I love my son, but time spent alone with my husband is so precious, it somehow gets neglected with both of us working full-time... Enjoy your summer holiday!!

What fun! The hotel you stayed in looks fabulous.
I know what you mean about summer feeling busier than the rest of the year.

It looks lovely there! My husbands family used to go there a lot when they lived in Monterey, I've never been. Love that you two are making time and able to get away to celebrate together, what a treat ;)
Tj and I celebrate our 11th year together this summer, too. It has flown by, most of the time!
Take care.

Hello! and Happy (Belated) Anniversary!!!!!
Yay! What a way to celebrate....looks perfectly relaxing.
Thank you for popping in to say Hi. For some strange reason, I don't know when people leave comments on my blog anymore (they used to go to my email, not anymore).....
I can't believe it's July 1 already!!!!
Oh, and I LOVE your "outfit of the day blog". You always look so put together! I only have about six outfits that I wear over and over again.....
I hope you are having a beautiful Summer!
Hugs, Laura
