I am reading Jane Eyre for the first time and it is so engaging! Actually, to be honest, I am listening to it more than reading, and it is lovely. I visited Jacob and Faith over the long weekend, and anticipating the long drive, I signed up for Audible and downloaded Bossypants (Tina Fey's book. It's so funny and interesting). On a whim, I also downloaded Jane Eyre. It is free on Audible and is promoted as being available in "Whispersync" so if you are reading it on your Kindle it syncs automatically to where you are in the audiobook.
Anyway, I finished Bossypants and started Jane Eyre on the last leg of the trip and immediately got wrapped up in the story. Lo and behold, this afternoon when I had a chance to read a little at home, the Kindle book opened right to where I was in the recording. Fun.
Do you like the classics? I love the idea of reading more classics and now that I have discovered that I like audio books, I may be reading/listening to many more!
PS--Faith used to listen to books on tape every single night during her childhood. The Harry Potter books, the Ramona books, and The Island of the Blue Dolphins were particular favorites that she listened to multiple, multiple times.

Welcome back! I do love the classics. I always pick up Jane Austen when I need a pick-me-up, and Tess of the D'Urbravilles is one of my favorite books every (although not much of a pick-me-up); I haven't listened to many audiobooks though, I'm afraid my attention would wander...
Do you know about the podcast Craftlit? The woman who does it is a former English teacher who puts together podcasts on classic books- it's like a mini English lit class. Right now I am listening to Jane Eyre as well. She also takes about crafty things, but if you are not into that she has another podcast called Just the Books where she has taken the crafty talk out.

Have you tried Jane Austen? I love Jane Austen. My daughter listens to the Magic Treehouse audio books but is interested in more. I will check out the ones you mentioned. Funny you went north (where I live) and I went south to LA this past weekend. :-)

I read all the time, but last year I joined a classics book club to add a bit of culture to my regular diet of mysteries and chick lit. It has been an excellent experience, and Jane Eyre was one of our favorite choices. I loved it - chick lit for the Victorians.
