berry tart experiment

berry tart experiment

Last weekend Faith and I decided to make a berry tart. I used the crust recipe from The Art of Simple Food. It's an excellent all-butter crust, and the best part is that it makes enough for two tarts (so freeze half the dough for another time--it's nice having it in there, ready to go). I just make the dough in the food processor because I hate "cutting in" by hand, and it always works fine. We rolled out the dough thinish, but not too thin, added a bag of frozen blackberries, and Faith suggested making a "paste" of butter, sugar, and cornstarch to pour over the berries. We did that and I grated over some lemon zest, folded up the edges, and baked at 350. It took about 30-40 minutes I think. We baked until bubbly and a little bit browned. It was yummy--just wish we had had some vanilla ice cream to go with! 245/366 :: berry tart Hope you are having a good weekend. We are getting ready for our annual popsicle party. I have to make two cheeseballs and clean the house a bit. What are you up to this weekend?

That sounds so delicious! We made a rustic pear tart a few weeks ago, and the kids are still talking about it. Yummy!
