impromtu sensory play

impromtu sensory play

I had some dried beans that were way past their date and I wanted to get rid of them. I decided to pour them into a dish and make a temporary indoor sensory "table" for Rainer. He has definitely had some fun playing with the beans and burying the ladybug rocks the boys painted for my birthday. Now the beans have gotten a bit of extra use before I toss them.

My children LOVE playing with dried beans! It can be messy but totally worth it.

We are just beginning all those wonderful sensory play activities over again with Landon, and it is just so much fun to watch. I am going to have to get out the big tub and dried beans for him now that I have seen your post :).

My kids used to love playing with the pan of beans when they were little (but it drove my husband crazy!)

I was just looking at some dried beans and thinking... should I sew some bean bags? I've got a lot, though, so I think I'll put some of them on a tray!

This is probably too late, but I've used my old beans and rice to make wonderful heating bags...just sew up two squares of flannel and fill with your "leftovers" (I've bought some dried beans only to discover I didn't care for some kinds...and have repurposed them this way). I love the sensory table idea, bet that was a lot of fun!!
