a tip for remembering your vitamins

vitamin handful med minder--for vitamins!
When Carrie was here she passed along this great tip for remembering your vitamins: use a "med minder"! Med minders are those plastic "days of the week" containers that old people use to organize their medications. It had never occurred to me to use one of these for vitamins, but as soon as I saw Carrie's I became obsessed with the idea. I love having things neatly organized and I love structure and routine, so this is right up my alley. Currently I'm taking a multivitamin, two fish oils, an iron, and a vitamin D. I'd love to hear your recommendations for supplements too. What are you taking that you love?? multivites
Frankly, the only reason I chose this multivite is that the tablets are smaller (you have to take two, but I prefer that to taking one giant one). Do you have a multivitamin recommendation?

Do you give your younger boys supplements? I recently started giving my daughters, 3 & 4, cod liver oil, probiotics, and something called cell salts, which are a homeopathic type supplement. The difference in their health from these three simple things has been noticeable. I only take supplements when I feel like I need them although we see a constitutional homeopath, so that's kind of like taking a regular supplement. Sorry to be so long winded...

I use a med-minder too! I take Juice Plus (I'd love to talk to you more about why it is so absorbable, highly researched, awesome and unique www.klabarejuiceplus.com), fish oil if I haven't eaten chia or fish that day, and vit. d. To your health!

why do you supplement vitamins? as far as i understood, you do not eat vegan, which would explain the neccessity to supplement vitamin b12. i myself habe been eaten vegan for almost two years now and i do take b12 supplements. as i live in the northern hemisphere, i also take vitamin d as recommended by my doctor.
the best vitamins to take are those we find in fruits, nuts, veggies and so on - in naturally grown foods.

Vitamin D; B-12 , Vitamin A, Calcium, Potassium, One- a Day vits and one other. But then I have had a gastric bypass. I use that daily reminder too it looks funkjy but does the trick! I eat a healthy diet but due to poor absorbson issues I have to supplement.

I LOVE this! In your opinion, is it ok to give kids supplements? Like iron?

MamaJewel--they take a chewable vitamin from Trader Joe's (not the gummy ones--the chalky ones).

kmdegroot--I'll e-mail you! Thanks for the rec.

Amala--I supplement to make up for a way less than perfect diet, because my hair was falling out, and because I tend to be pretty anemic.

Kristen--no, not iron, unless recommended specifically by your health practitioner. Iron can be toxic in high doses so I'd steer clear unless necessary. I do give my kids a chewable multi-vite.

I take a multi, fish oil (I wish I liked to eat fish, but I don't, so...) and a vitamin E pill, on the recommendation of my gyno. It helps if your breasts tend to be sore or lumpy.
