celebrating 7 and 22

Jacob and Dieter both have birthdays this week, so we decided to celebrate both boys on New Year's Day. I made two lasagnas (one spinach and one meat) and a big salad and bought rolls at Trader Joe's. We also had two cakes: a yummy almond cake for Jacob and a white cake with raspberry frosting for Dieter (which my mom kindly made and brought along). It was fun and festive with Gam and Papa plus my brother James and his girlfriend Lori all in attendance. We had to move the table into the living room again and add a card table at the end--just like at Thanksgiving. I also made sugar cookies in the shapes of the numbers they were turning, but no one had much interest in those (but Dieter would have been disappointed if I hadn't made them).

Cute memory: I looked down the table and saw mounds of fluffy white cake with the frosting all eaten off on Dieter's plate. He's a boy who likes to eat the frosting first.

Happy Birthday to Jacob and Dieter. I am so proud of my January boys!

I can't believe how big your kids are getting! It seems like yesterday that Jacob was a teenager. :) I hope your January boys had a lovely day!
