trip to kansas

lawrence, ks
Last weekend I flew to Kansas for a visit with my good friend Carrie. It was so exciting to be flying off alone for a trip of my own--I never do that! Usually Carrie visits here, but this time it worked out for me to visit her and I'm so glad I did. I adore the town of Lawrence (I used to live there) and it was really fun being back. I'm super-hoping to go out a lot more now. It was especially fun to get a dose of cold weather and wear layers that don't have to be peeled off throughout the day. I'm not much of a vacation photographer at all (I prefer to be in the moment) but here are a few instagram/iPhone photos that I was inspired to take while there.

Colorful display of Klean Kanteens--they were so pretty all lined up this way that I very nearly bought one! (Wouldn't it be fun to have all the colors lined up like this on an open shelf at home?).

The dairy selection at The Merc was so beautiful. So much inspiring packaging! I was jealous of their awesome health food store. (Actually, all the shopping was awesome--so much local and handmade stuff).

The Mad Greek and Weaver's. Two of my favorites.

Carrie--it was so fun. Thanks for hosting this time! I can't wait to visit again!

Hi Mary Beth,
I read your blog and find that we have a lot in common. And now we have Lawrence, too! I live in KC but LOVE Lawrence. Looks like you hit a lot of the best spots. Glad you had such a nice trip. There is an added thrill when traveling alone, isn't there?

I live in Topeka. You did indeed show some of our faves in Lawrence! Next time, if you like Mexican food, try La Parilla (Brazilian flair) or Esquina.

I was sorry to have missed your trip. Besides catching up, I wish we could have sat down with our laptops so that you could show me how to make my blog look and function as well as yours.

It was fun seeing your pics of Lawrence. It made me miss it a little. Not looking forward to leaving France, but looking forward to reconnecting in Lawrence.

Funny about Mad Greek (we prefer Aladdin Cafe for that fare) and Weaver's, which I NEVER go to for some reason and it is only four blocks from our house.

Hopefully the next time you come you will bring the kids. Would love to meet them and see your older ones again. I am sure they are nothing like the little kids I last saw, just like Willow is nothing like the little girl you remember.

I'll catch up with you soon...
