I never got around to posting these on Monday, so here are some Monday scenes on Friday. This is how the evening looked that night, plus a family walk. It was dark by the time we got home. Although it looks calm and peaceful in the photos, any weeknight for a working mama is a bit busy and frantic feeling. Making time for the walk certainly helped.

The chicken also had a yummy cucumber and yogurt sauce. I was able to use homemade yogurt and a home grown cucumber, which is always fun. Here's the recipe:

1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup peeled and diced cucumber
a radish, finely diced
1 T. mayo
some grated lemon peel
a good squeeze of lemon juice
a pinch of garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste, with a dash of paprika

This is also delicious over salmon.

Hi there... I'm new to your blog and really enjoying it!

Your dining table looks so pretty in this post! And please tell me about the peacock on what I'm guessing is your nature table...

yum. You have so many posts that make my tummy grumble like Winnie the Pooh's!
I hope you know that those increasingly dark evenings post school are stressful for even the non-working parent, so don't ever let yourself fell extra guilty for being a working parent - you'd be just as frantic if you were a stay at home mommy. something about that time of night amidst the back to school causes the chaos, right?!
Have a great weekend :)

I need to try that recipe! Yes, how satisfying to use your own cukes and yogurt. A simple pleasure (:

I'm enjoying your blog so much as well! I spent some time going through the archives and made a list of so many ideas I want to try with the boys. I love those homemade stickers you made with the gelatin. I also sat down the other night and made some rainbow gnomes with peg people - a different version but inspired by you. Anyway, thanks for all the inspiration.

Love the bowls of tumbled rocks too!

I love all kinds of yogurt dip! One of my spicy favorites is yogurt with a bit of mayo and some (not too much) chipotles in adobo sauce - good with vegetarian chili, tacos, etc.
I also love Rainer's full plate - wish my kids would actually eat what I cook!

Mama Bird--I'm happy to meet you! The peacock is an Ostheimer wooden toy.

Sarah--thank you!

Wool Fairy--oh wow, that is awesome that you were inspired to go through the archives. I'm very flattered and pleased. That "sticker" activity is a fun one. Oh, and the gnomes are favorites around here.

Chris--that sounds delicious! And alas, he only ate a tiny bite of his vegetables!

We tried the yogurt sauce tonight. Except we had no lemons or radish. I used white wine vinegar and I grated the cuc instead of chopping. So good and it made our meal just a little special. Thanks for the inspiration.
