granola bar recipe review

homemade granola bars

After I posted these fruit and nut bars, Beth suggested this recipe for granola bars. I'd love to have 3 or 4 go-to bar recipes, so I tried it. I can give an honest and thorough review at this point because I've been taking them for my snack at work for the last couple of weeks. They are great! I love that they are no-bake, that they hold together very well in a thick bar shape, and that they keep at length. I pressed mini-chocolate chips into the top of mine, but you could easily omit that. These are dense, heavy, and filling. I really need that in my mid-morning snack because I don't eat lunch until after 1pm. These hold me. I wrapped mine individually in waxed paper and stored them in a tin in the refrigerator, but you could freeze them just as well. Just let them come to room temp before eating (otherwise they are a bit hard). Thank you Beth!

Next up: these. Maybe experimenting with homemade granola bars should be on my summer list!

Ha! We are really on the same page... I just made those Smitten Kitchen bars for the first time last week. The funny thing was that I only had about half of the right ingredients, so I had to use some of this and some of that (half butter, half oil, etc). Anyway, they were GREAT. I love that about granola, it is so flexible. I think I'll make some more tonight.

oh hi, I was like... "I'm Beth, I sent her a link to my favorite granola bar" Glad you liked it. I have several others to try but keep going back to that recipe.

We're trying to get more healthy when it comes to lunches and snacks and I think granola bars are a great way to do that - love that these are no bake!
