fun Ikea trip

Carrie is still here and we are having a wonderful visit. Today was our annual trip to Ikea (well, it's not really an annual trip, but we do seem to make time for an Ikea shop-up whenever she comes out). There is just something so fun about that store. I think I just love the Swedishness of it. The Christmas decorations were up, so that was very festive too.
I always admire these curtain panels whenever I go in.
Cute play kitchen!
Dreaming of hardwood countertops . . .

Swedish-y Christmas accents . . .
Love the packaging here . . .

Tomorrow we're driving Carrie to the airport and are very sad, but it's been such a great visit!

Oh how fun...we don't have an Ikea near us, so I've never been. Did you buy any of that Swedish goodness? And I love that you're brave enough to take pictures in a store (I think I'm way too self-conscious!)

Oh, don't dream of those counters.

We have them and less than a year later they are the ONLY thing I regret about our massive house remodel. They are kind of horrible. Hard to keep clean, stained everywhere, not easy to wipe down, filled with greasy spots, and if you oil them like you are supposed to you cannot set a single thing on them without it looking like you literally cooked it in a deep fryer. (So now mine are dry as heck because I refuse to live with that "McDonalds" residue on every piece of paper people set on my counter.)

Bad, bad, they are.

The rest of my Ikea kitchen? Wonderful!

I love those curtains too! Sadly, they don't fit in our fifties modern house very well since, well, there *are* no curtains. There's a chair upholstered in the same pattern, but I haven't found a place for it yet.

What an excellent tradition!! I have those curtains and still love them. Your photos are making me want to make the trek to Ikea ~ I love the gnome giftwrap.:)

Love, love, love Ikea! - their items anyway.

Perhaps I'll post about their Sponge Bob playroom another day.

I have been eyeing that kitchen - the wood one that I have seems too miniature now.

Happy Thanksgiving. Nicole

Sorry I'm a little confused! Is this an advertisement?

Charmaine--nope! It's just a silly post of my Ikea wanderings.

Andrea--I got some wrapping paper, food items (crackers, dried beans, some cookies) and some sundry items like dish cloths and candles.

Sarah and Jack--good to know! Thanks so much for the insight. What countertops would you go with if you had to do it again?
