look what's back!

I've been looking for this organic sweetened condensed milk for such a long time (at Trader Joe's) and finally assumed it was no longer available. But now it's back and I'm so happy. It must be a seasonal item. When I saw it I immediately scooped up two cans. One will be for a future batch of chai latte mix,
. . . and the other immediately went into a pan of 7-layer bars. So sweet and so delicious. I highly recommend cutting them small.
I got my recipe for 7 layer bars from Teens Cook, but they only have six layers: butter and graham cracker crumbs (mixed together and pressed into the pan for a crust), chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, sweetened coconut, and sweetened condensed milk. Anyone know what the seventh layer is supposed to be?

They are also supposed to have a layer of chopped nuts.

My recipe calls for pecans but no butterscotch chips, so still only 6 layers :)

I was intrigued by the 7-layer bar (never had them, ever), that I looked it up, allrecipes.com , shows the one of the layers as nuts (walnuts, pecans) it gets added after the second layer of chips, then the sweetened condensed milk, followed by the coconut. YUMMY, any way you make it, it sounds mouthwatering! :)

YummY! I wish my children liked 7 layer bar. I guess I am going to have to find a reason to make them anyways.

Thanks for the tip! Our Trader Joe's is 1.5hrs. from us so I only go every 3 months but that is next weekend. yay!
Also, I've been reading Simplicity Parenting and gleaning some good stuff from it. The funny part is the author lives in my small town of 1200-what a coincidence!

I was going to say the 7th layer is the chub that arrives after I eat the whole pan! :) I love those things.

Look how you put that can on that little quilted piece that echoes its shapes and colors. You are so lovely, honestly.

Thanks so much for posting this! I have been waiting for that product as well. We tried Amy's chai mix when she first posted it but haven't made it again due to the lack of organic sweetened condensed milk. Those seven layer bars might have to go onto my list for the weekend as well!!

Oh, I am so glad it is back! I'll stock up so I can make chai mix all year long. I'm not fond of coconut so I'll take your word that the bars are yummy.

We always have nuts in our 7 layer bars. Sliced almonds are good, or pecans or walnuts! They have to have nuts!

I whole heartedly concur with Inoureyes! Though I like chopped pecans.

In our family we always called them "hipbuilders" (really!). So, so yummy. I think they're calling my name, as a matter of fact!

Hello! My family doesn't like butterscotch chips, so we had caramels chopped into bits instead. The seventh layer was toasted pecans.
