a little project
I love a small fast project that has a lot of bang for the buck. I threw together this little garland for the mantle last weekend and I couldn't believe how fast it went. I made it super simple by not finishing the edges whatsoever and just folding rectangles of fabric over some store bought bias tape and stitching down the row. I was going for a fallish color scheme, but I think it would be fun to make more of these in all different colorways. Picking and combining the fabric is the funnest part.

The bunting looks really beautiful and I love the colours, so fresh and inviting.
I was wondering about the beautiful *treasure* print in the background. It's gorgeous!! Was it an Etsy find at all?
Thank you, One Crafty Mumma!
The print is by Nikki McClure. You can get it on BuyOlympia.com I love it--it reminds me of Ken taking one of the "babies" for a yard walk.
Thanks Mary Beth. I will have to check out that website, it's just so lovely.
hooray for quick, cheap, crafty thrills!
lovely bunting!
That is super cute. Another little project for the list. I passed your blog address onto a friend recently who is supporting her small son through chemo right now. She said it helped her a lot. So thanks, and lots of love to you. xx
I LOVE it! Thank you for the idea. I love unfussy projects too!
Mama Mogantosh--oh, I'm so glad if your friend has found some support here. Let her know if she'd like to e-mail me that would be fine (but I totally understand if she doesn't want to "talk" because that is how I was too).
That is so cute! I have a decorative mantle in my dining room of recycled barn wood and I would love to make a Christmas/wintery one! That looks great! Very creative!
Great Mantle garland. It's really pretty Mary Beth. :) Might even be easy enough for this non-but-want-to-be sewer(sp?)...lol
Have a great weekend with the family.

I love your mantle! What a cute bunting. I have the same Nikki McClure print in my kitchen. :)
Hi Mary Beth, I just read your article at Rhythm of Home and loved it. We also live in southern california (in a condo in very urban west los angeles) and for the past few years I xonstantly found myself saying "I would do this if we had a nicer house or a yard...." The thoughts you expressed in your article are such a valuable reminder to gratefully accept what you have.
Very cute! It definitely lends a fallish feeling to the place. :)
This fabric garland is just to adorable. I have to try this myself at my daycare. Thanks for sharing. So cute!
