summery simple pleasures

Stacks of books and projects,
hydrangeas,
treasures collected on summer outings,
reading Pippi (with a new stuffed animal from the grandparents),
new art on the art wire.

Do you still use the same green smoothie combo in the summer, (with apples and oranges) or do you mix up the different types of fruit?
I'm going to try it this weekend. Love your blog! Have a great 4th of July!

I love the art on the art wire. There is just nothing better than seeing your kiddos' art up for display. How nice to see a few of the simple pleasures that are bringing you joy

Oh, hydrangeas. They don't grow here and they are so, so lovely, especially the purply-blue color. Hooray for Pippi! I love Astrid Lindren's books so much.

We're reading Pippi right now too! I just found the third book today at the local second hand book store for $1 and the children are excited to read what happens next!

Georgia--yes, so far we do. We have an orange tree that bears in summer (Valencia) and I tend to keep buying apples year round, I'm afraid (we are not perfect about buying local/seasonal). Truth be told, the winter oranges "hang well" for several months and we still have a few Cara Caras.

I just read Pippi to my boys...so fun and silly! I'd never read it when I was a kid (and they didn't mind at all that she's a girl!) Now we're onto the little house books, and even my big boy takes a break from the Hardy Boys and sneaks in to listen. They don't mind that Laura's a girl, either (helps that Pa's always either making bullets or shooting things or running into bears).
