dream cards and old school dinner

Some of you were asking about the "sweet dreams" cards pictured in my previous post. Here's a glimpse of some of them. They really are pretty, aren't they? The reason they were out on the table is because I recently "rescued" them out of one of Faith's desk drawers (with her blessing) to use with the boys. Here's how they work: the child chooses a card at bedtime--there's a pretty quote or poem on the back of each--the mama reads it to the child and they can sleep with it under their pillow as part of the bedtime routine. The boys do like them, too. Faith liked them, but I think she was a little bit old for them when we got them.

And, totally unrelated, look how old school our dinner was last night! Meatloaf, just the way my mother made it, potatoes and green beans. I have to admit it was a very comforting and cozy meal. What's your favorite "old school" dinner?

Oh, how I love those cards! Cooper Edens compiled our favorite thrifted Brother Grimm book too. We might have to pick up a pack of them. Thanks for sharing, Mary Beth.

I love, love, love those cards!

That is exactly the type of dinner my mom made for us every night when I was growing up. Love it.

Hope you are feeling better!

Thank you so much for sharing those cards--they are truly special.

I'd have to say meatloaf is our 'old school' dinner of choice too.

Meatloaf is definitely my old school meal of choice (but my husband feels differently, so I almost never make it).
And as a fellow mom and homemaker, I love your blog. Thanks being inspiring. =)

These cards are awesome... On the unrelated note, I just found your blog on dried apple slices and my little one and I were doing that this morning before she left for school... I love your blog!

Thanks so much for posting about the cards, they look so sweet and comforting. Perhaps something like that would help our 7 year old get to sleep easier these days.
We do have a wonderful book called Nightlights: Stories and Advice to help your child discover peace, confidence and creativity. It's not nearly so didactic as the title sounds...lovely little book that leaves much for the child to fill in with their imagination.
My go-to comfort food? Hmmm, spaghetti with homemade sauce and wine! :-)
