Well, it's official -- I never really have gotten myself together this week. I attribute that to the time change and the camera breaking on Sunday (I've sent it off to be repaired--not sure how long it will take). Making me happy now, though: these pictures Dieter has been drawing. In that top one, he tells me the ladybug is licking its chops and the aphid is frowning, knowing what is to come! I loved that. Another happy memory from this week: on Monday night watching Dieter eating his dinner. He sat in a big person's chair (he doesn't want the Tripp-Trapp anymore), forking salmon into his mouth and eating oranges. I think the sight of a child eating his dinner is a thrilling one for any mama.
And how do you like these blue photos, taken by Faith's camera?? Just keeping it real again. I don't know how to make her camera not photograph with a blue tint! I'm loving these Dieter drawings though. He put's "Ken" on there because they are for Ken (maybe that's easier than writing "Daddy"?)

So I'm hoping to get fired up and get myself all organized over the weekend and maybe get some sewing time too. And on Sunday we're celebrating the Equinox with a little tea. How about you?

Hello!
I think that it's blue because of the light settings - my camera always used to take blue pictures until I figured out that it was switched to the wrong light setting, so maybe look around the options menu and change that? (Sorry if you've already tried that though!)

Sorry to hear your camera is broken. I am always so fearful what the quote is when ours visits the shop.
Thought of you today when I picked up a recycled issue of Real Simple from October. Curious if you had seen it? A whole month of meal planning from recipes to grocery lists.
Also went "thrifting" and was so excited with the treasures I found. Looking forward to reading The Happiness Project, waiting my turn at the library.

The equinox is a public holiday here in Japan so I have no excuse not to do something to celebrate, right??

Loving those little boy pictures...

Dieter's drawings are great.

I know what you mean about enjoying watching your children eat. I can still picture my daughter dunking her 'black cookies' with her whole hand in milk! Loved it.

Mary Beth, have you tried turning flash off or so,mething of the sort on the camera's light settings. I use a dinky little point and shoot all the time(haven't gotten my dream camera yet) and shoot with "flash off" generally. I don't think the photos come out blue....

Oh, Mary Beth. Have you considered turning those beautiful drawings into embroidery? They would make beautiful keepsakes either framed or sewn into a quilt.

Great series of pictures! I totally agree on watching my kids eat dinner, especially a healthy one that many other kids wouldn't touch. I hope your camera issues are resolved quickly!

I love that ladybug and aphid drawing; what a great sense of humor he has! The preschool teacher in me can't help but say that though "daddy" is longer than "Ken," Ks are one of the hardest letters for kids to write (those two opposing diagonals), so I'm impressed by his effort!

Your post what exactly what I needed to read - although some things didn't go our way this week either - we can still find joy - like watching our little ones eat.

Those drawings are precious!

So sorry to hear about your camera!

I just checked out Weekend Sewing from the library, but couldn't find the headband pattern - did you modify the head scarf pattern for your adorable headband?

Kristen--yes, it's the headscarf--but I didn't modify it. I made it exactly as written, but as with many or maybe all of the projects in the book (judging from what I've read on others' blogs) it looks different in real life than in the photo. Next time I'll add an extra inch of elastic.
