fabric headband from "weekend sewing"

Thanks so much for the curtain love, everybody. It's nice to see that others like them too. You guys are sweet! Also this weekend, just before making the curtains, I made this little headband from Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. It's the first time I have actually used the book. I like this little headband, so maybe it bodes well for the rest of the book (although I've read of a lot of people having trouble with some of the clothing in there . . .).
This was such a quick sew--I'm looking forward to making a few more of these in different fabrics. Next time I'll add an extra inch of elastic, though--the fit is pretty tight.
Ken took the boys for a nature experience on Saturday--that's how I was able to get so much sewing done (a trade-off for sure, because I truly love going to the mountains with Ken and the boys. I also am truly grateful for the time to sew . . . balance, I say).

nice headband! I do like that book though the first dresses I sewed for my girls didn't fit. She has since put out an errata and that helped, the second time I made them they worked much better.

Very cute! I've been wanting that book but have been intimidated by all the mis-sizing.
I see you are starting a new knitting project. What are you making? I've started knitting again in earnest and think I've been bit by the knitting bug for sure this time around. I'm almost finished with a project and can't wait to cast on another.

Hi Rain! I'm really into knitting little cotton dish cloths at the moment. So fun, quick and satisfying.

Thanks, everyone.

Hello!

The headband is very pretty, you make me want one too for the coming spring/summer.

WS has been my first sewing book and there are some mistakes in it sadly, but some projects turn out OK. I love the huge tote.

I really enjoy your blog and this is my first comment :)

I loved making that headband, but so far it's the only pattern that I haven't had to tweak from that book. I'm lucky I'm not bald after making the little girl dress. There is errata at the flickr site, though. I haven't noticed Melanie Falick or Heather Ross putting any out, but users of the book came up with their own.

Nice to sew a little something for yourself. You can wear it next time you head into the mountains :)

Your curtains are wonderful! I bought some Alexander Henry fabric to make curtains last year, a big print with roosters and crazy trees, and pink! My family looked at me like I was crazy. Made me doubt myself and the curtains. You have me reconsidering...

I was given Weekend Sewing as a gift, and so far the headband is the only project I've tried. I was disappointed that it turned out too small for my head - I'm going to have to try and enlarge the pattern and try again.
