knitting, resumed

So, I finally settled on a project to follow my knitted snake success. It's the Fuzzy Capelet from Speed Knitting by Kris Percival. I went to the yarn shop last weekend to buy yarn and to finally book my knitting lesson (that I've been talking about forever but only just now got around to scheduling). The pattern calls for acrylic "fun fur" yarn, which of course they don't sell at a yarn shop and I wanted to work with a natural fiber anyway, so the lady at the shop led me to this chunky baby alpaca yarn. I know nothing about yarn fibers but this feels fantastic. My capelet won't be fuzzy like in the picture, but it will feel like a cloud. And how awesome is it to be knitting a garment for myself? I'm just so excited.
{the picture from the book. Cute, huh?}

That said, I've already ripped this out 4 times now, for various reasons. It's okay, though, because my lesson is in a few days and with how chunky this is, it knits up fast. I still think I can have it done by Christmas. Hooray!

Yay for knitting! I'm gifting 4 knitted scarves this year, 2 to my parents, 2 for a couple of best girls! The experience has been immensely satisfying!!! Hope to be done with the last one soon, then onto the little last minute embellishments! Good look with your capelet, look forward to your updates! Avril

How fun, I bet it is going to be so comfy, I love working with big fat yarn, it goes so quickly.
