just a few yummy thrifting finds

I have been very enamored of thrifting lately. There is just something about the thrill of finding something wonderful amidst so much junk, combined with a bargain, combined with being "green." I'm really into it and so is Faith. Aside from all the Christmassy village things I picked up recently, here are a few more that I've managed to photograph. I adore these little dessert plates: I bought them to use on Thanksgiving and have since found them to be perfect little snack plates and so cheery with their floral themes. They cost next to nothing at $1.98 per stack.

A winter coat for Rainer. It was completely pristine when I bought it. Any non-pristineness you may see in this photo is entirely due to Rainer!
Boots for the boys. The green ones are the new ones--Rainer's are also thrifted from awhile back. And thankfully we are just now getting some rain so they can use them.
And a thrifted scarf drying on the line next to a playsilk. I've been stocking up on scarfs lately--it is really fun.

Thanks for sharing your finds. I love thrifting too and recently found that same yellow Franciscanware plate. But I only found one and it is dinner size. The thrill of the search and the bargain prices makes me very happy. And so does reading your blog.

oh, i love thrifting so much i had to start my etsy shop with my *ahem* 'excess' :) great finds! i love the plates. we buy mismatched sets of vintage, then at big holidays everyone gets their set and they are responsible for it while they stay here. it works out great and the table is always set and ready to go.

we buy everything second hand, the best we can find, even our cars! (let someone else pay depreciation!).

I've been into thrifting lately too. I found a great bread machine for $5 and am enjoying experimenting. I found some great purple boots too. So much fun. Glad we share that in common!

The pretty yellow plate in the upper corner is Franciscan Hacienda Gold - you may have known that. I found a complete service for 8 at an estate sale this year and since I was there 5 minutes before closing, I bought the whole set for $12. That's some fine thrifting. I'll be the boots are being treasured.

Just started reading your blog. Thanks for the inspirations! Strange coincidence that both of the thrifted plates you pictured are very familiar to me. The floral was my gram's everyday pattern and the Franciscan, my parents'.

Jennifer--I still love those little plate stacks and use them daily! How fun that they are both familiar to you. So sturdy!
