a good and mellow weekend

We really did have such a nice weekend, but I have basically no photos to show of it. I just was not in the mood to document anything! . . . that's how it is sometimes. But I sewed in the morning on Saturday, went on a hike with Ken and the boys in the afternoon, and made a nice dinner that evening. Almost a perfect day, now that I think of it! The weather was cool and fallish and I am appreciating that so much. Sunday was very domestic. I walked with the boys to farmer's market, picked up Faith from her friend's house, and puttered around the house, baking, running loads of laundry, and interacting with the boys all day. I think it's good for them to have some really unstructured time and they are getting so much better at playing together. It was one of those weekends where I had such a sense of well-being, domesticity, and the feeling that our children are so very nice--we must be doing something right.

Now about the crafts: I'm still making log cabin squares and patchwork drawstrings for more bags like this one. I saw a post (here) about making similar patchwork strings and I found it very inspiring. You can use these little ties for lots of things, and they are so cheery!
More log cabin squares in different colorways. These are addicting. I think I could make many more and never tire of them.

I especially like the yellow one, but aren't they all are so bright and colorful?

I hope you all had a very good weekend and have a delightful week ahead.

Did you hand stitch your fabric strings? they look so cute, and such a great idea, but I don't know if all that hand stitching would work! Haha! but if the machine won't work, then I guess I will make do!

I love these. Some day I plan to sit down and learn how to make them.

Shannon: I totally machine stitched mine. I can't imagine really ever having the patience to hand stitch them, although I do love the looks of the ones on the link.

Those little patchworks are so pretty, I especially love the yellow one. Thanks for the link to the blog with the patchwork straps, she makes some very sweet things. I like the straps she made with the clips attached to the ends.
