beauty in small things

This is the week I stay home with Rainer while he is on his steroid treatment. I'm enjoying being with him and noticing the beauty in our home and in domesticity. Even these dead flowers were very pretty to me in the morning light. I'm realizing there is tons of beauty all around us and and what a gift it is to see and appreciate it. It's a lesson I'm living every day.

Rainer said, "I have a good idea" and he proceeded to move this little flower from the nature table to the main table. This is the flower he picked for me on Wednesday. It's very special indeed when a boy brings flowers to his mama.

I agree Mary Beth. I enjoy making my home as much like a haven as possible, we spend so much time here. And there is nothing like your children to help you see all the loveliness in life. I can't wait until my son is old enough to pick me a flower, it's already so great when my three year old daughter brings me a dandelion or a bunch of clover :)

Beautiful...taking a moment to step back and soak it all in. Those moments are precious indeed, especially when shared with your child.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Gorgeous photos Mary Beth. I also keep dead and dying flowers around, ok, I admit it is often out of laziness, but they are just so elegant and beautiful as they wither. I have even painted and drawn them in different stages of decay.

It's really great you get the flexibility to spend this extra time with Rainer.
I love those moments of realisation of the beauty in everyday things - one day it's hum drum and boring and the next you are astounded by the world around you. I find the blogging process makes me more aware of it, don't you?

my 4yr old son claimed Friday "Mama's Day" and brought me flowers from the garden then told me I didn't have to do anything...all the while, I'm making breakfast and lunches!
I love the little gifts brought by little hands!

Yes indeed I so agree, a flower from a certain someone out does any expensive boughten bouquet.

You stole the words right from my lips. If we can see the beauty in the little things daily, we will all be alright.
