little backpack for Dieter

This weekend I made a little backpack for Dieter. I've been meaning to for quite some time, and I finally got around to it. It went quite fast once I got started. I followed the pattern for the backpack in Simple Sewing. The only modification I made was to make the straps a bit shorter. The bag itself is smallish, so I ended up using it full sized, even for Dieter.
I finally used the little lion pocket I embroidered over a year ago. It turned out to be perfect timing because Dieter is really into Lion King right now (with the scary parts fast forwarded through, of course). The print fabric is Red Riding Hood fabric from Superbuzzy. I love it so.

I love the top closure--you simply pull the handles and it closes. It's easy enough for Dieter to do himself. The only issue is that the double straps fall off him a little bit. It helps when he has the bag stuffed with things. I'll try to get a photo of him wearing it this week. It's cute on him.

Also, scroll down for a Rainer update. It's below Friday's post for some reason (I guess because I started it Friday and saved it as a draft . . . annoying). Happy last week of school! We're getting very excited around here.

Hi. I found your blog a while ago through Flickr, I think. I just struggled with this same draft-post problem, so thought I'd share what I figured out. If you go to "edit post," you'll find a place at the bottom left of the page where you can click "post options." There, you can change the date when your post will appear. :-) Lise

These back packs rock my world. Do you know of any seller to find this style on off of etsy?

Anonymous--no, alas, I don't. Probably you'd just have to browse around and find someone whose work you like. Good luck!
