homemade rain

It was beautiful in the yard yesterday morning. A perfect start to our first "official" day of the summer vacation (because it was a weekday with no school, you see). I asked Ken to drill some holes in the bottom of a coffee can so the boys can make "rain." It was a big hit--so he ended up making two of these. (Later in the day it really did rain--a rarity for us at this time of year--so special).

And today we are off to Santa Barbara for a little trip--and not the "all expenses paid" kind, we reassured Rainer (e.g. a stay at the hospital, ha ha). We much prefer the recreational kind.

Hey there, Mary Beth! I love your blog- have been following it for a short while now and always enjoy your posts. The rain maker idea is FABULOUS! I can't wait to make some for my DD and the neighbor kiddos. I know it will be a huge hit, and much easier to control & share than the water hose! Happy Summer!

It looks like the boys are having fun "making rain". :) Love Deiter's shirt, and Rainer couldn't be cuter in his diaper and little hat!

This post reminded me of when I was little and my Grammie found an old fisher price kitchen to put outside as a 'mud kitchen.' She hooked up a hose to the faucet and gave me plates and bowls and I used it to "bake" in forever. Water was my favorite toy as a kid, for sure. Making rain is such a fun idea, I would have loved it!

Cute! That looks fun (although we get more than enough rain here we don't need to make our own).

Just wanted to let you know I linked to this on my weekly roundup (post can be found here). Just the thought of "homemade rain" made me smile! I know my little one will enjoy the heck out of this. Thanks!
