cute presentation for gifted cookies

I'm always in search of a cute way to present cookies to someone as a gift without using plastic. I have all these nice, sturdy coffee tins lying around (you can see what it looks like in this post) with screw-on metal lids--so no plastic at all. Woo hoo! I just whipped up a fabric tube to slip over it. This one I decorated with a fabric strip (it's actually a belt I bought for nothing at a rummage sale--I could never find what went with it), but wouldn't these be cute with a patchwork strip, maybe a pocket for a little note, or just a print fabric instead of a solid?
The top of these tins does have a little writing. You could leave it as is but I covered it with a to/from label. I'm giving this, filled with cookies, to my health clerk today as an end-of-the-year gift. Afterwards the tin can be re-used sort of like these ones, or even as a casual vase for flowers.

By the way, my little stovetop espresso pot is working again. Ken figured out I was filling it too ful with coffee. Also, I really clean and twist that little valve every time. I am much releived.

Any time I find ideas that help me recycle what's in my house, well, those ideas just make me happy. This is a great idea for all those scraps I've been wondering about. Thank you.

I have a ton of those same coffee cans... Last year I used my Xyron and covered them in pretty laminated paper and filled them with art supplies for birthday party favors. I love your idea of putting cookies in them. That would be a great hostess gift!

This is a wonderful idea... I am going to start saving my milo tins for some of these come Christmas. Lovely, thank-you!

You really do always have the best ideas! I send out cookies in tins I buy after the holiday season. I try to pick the most 'season generic' ones and then wrap them in scrap fabric.
