weekend update

We had a low key weekend, not much to report. Actually, I guess they are all pretty low key around here! That's how we like it. Example: very exciting for Dieter and I was the fact that we got to switch the seasonal postcard on the nature table from April to May. Dieter chose a new page of the seasonal book to display and we turned the calendar page. You see, it does not take much to excite us around here!
I finished this fabric bucket.
I finally tried this egg dish I've been wanting to make from my last issue of Everyday Food. It really is quite yummy and different.

And I baked bread for the first time in a long time. This was delicious with the egg dish.
And poor little Rainer has been hammered by his last round of chemo and all the meds He's been on. But I'm happy to report that by Sunday afternoon he was feeling much better and actually playing for the first time in days. So that was very good.

And now it is feeling very summery here and I'm brewing all sorts of ideas for when school lets out. Happy Monday to everyone.

I'm looking forward to a summer of cooking and bread making. We'll see if I can pull it off. (Summer will begin after moving ends, so June-July!)

Your weekend looks like it was lovely. Now that it is a bit warmer and springy here I've been itching to make some bread. What recipe did you use for that tasty bread?

Your nature table looks lovely, as always. Poor Rainer looks so tuckered in the last photo. I love the composition of the shot with him sleeping on one side and the scattered toys on the other. Perfect. :)

I love hearing about your weekend, I think it is just perfect and love just how low key it is.

And God Bless little Rainer, He is such a trooper.

Now I want to try the egg dish, do you recommend it?

Have a great week and your nature table is looking great as always. =)

Hugs to Rainer. Would you mind sharing where you got your postcard set from? I've been looking for a set for some time, but still haven't found just the "right" ones. Thanks!

Calendar change over is big here too- (low key here too!) We have the same calendar and my boy was upset by the cat with a bird image... yours? Glad Rainer was feeling well by the end of the weekend.

I know you don't know me...but your posts make me so happy. My father-in-law has pancreatic cancer and somehow through searching for positive information about battling cancer I ran into your blog. I am a SAHM of to busy boys and have enjoyed seeing your family, hearing about your personal battles, and just feeling the warmth of your motherly love. Thanks for your candid posts about you and your loved ones. It has been a blessing for me as things are bleek some days.

Jessica--it's just the basic "boule" from Artisan Breads. I can't remember if you have that book or not, but it is worth it! I highly recommend. Perfect for busy people like us who still like to cook from scratch.

Oona--yes, do try the egg dish if you like eggs and tomato sauce. I thought it was yummy for a change of pace.

Nicole--the postcard set is from Nova Natural toys. I'm pretty sure they always carry it. It's a set of 12--one for every month.

Thanks to everyone for such nice comments and prayers/hugs for Rainer.

Thanks, Mary Beth! I'm not quite sure how I didn't see those postcards in my almost constant perusing of the Nova Natural catalog, though...tee hee.
