another pillow

Choosing thread colors . . .
letters stitched, now choose buttons . . .
It's a pillow! (with buttons on the back).
In other pillow news, the ties on this one are useful for taking your pillow for a walk.
It was a lovely rainy (wintery for us) weekend. I very much enjoyed having a studio rainy day on Saturday. Not the whole day of course, but a few hours to make a pillow. There is something soul nourishing about rain and crafting.

I'm looking forward to a short week this week--Friday and Monday are holidays for us. Don't get me started on how I'd much rather have two Monday holidays (which my district has always taken in the past), but this will do. On Friday I'm looking forward to taking Faith to breakfast and enjoying some extra studio time.

Also, I've switched back to morning blogging, so I can wish you all good morning in all honesty. Good morning!

Good morning to you too. I love your pillows. We still have the pillows that came with the couches. So boring.

I love these pillows you've made (I really liked the "home" one too, but forgot to comment!). Enjoy your days off!

Love the pillow! Where you do buy fabric?

1urbanmom--the main fabric is from Ikea. I don't get to shop there very often, but when I do I like to check out the fabrics and stock up. Also, I buy from Superbuzzy, Sew Mama Sew and Cia's Pallette. Sometimes I'm lucky and find thrifted fabric. That orange velvet in the letter V is a thrifted find and I love it. I do go to Joanne for basics like the flannel I used for Dieter's pajama pants (and mine too, for that matter).

Thanks everyone, for the pillow love.

Walking the pillow looks like fun - especially a pretty one like that!

Great minds think alike. I have just done a wall hanging in those fabrics and am about to make some cushions. I am SO going to borrow your lovely cushion idea...

Ikea fabric is so lovely and unusual. I have a huge swatch of the orange birds on the branch that goes with the two you have and i don't know what to do with it. What a great problem to have!

Love the blog.

i know making a pillow is probably very basic, but I'm a beginner when it comes to sewing and I was really inspired by this pillow. Is there a particular pillow tutorial you can direct me to? Thanks!

Hi Michele. I'm glad you were inspired! Yes, making a pillow is pretty basic--basically cutting two rectangles and stitch around (but you do need to settle on a closure). Unfortunately I don't have a tutorial to refer you to. I do totally get how you might want specific instructions if you haven't done this before (I'm the same way). I used these to cover old Ikea pillows, so that is where the pillow form came from, by the way. Can anyone refer Michele to a basic pillow tutorial?
