Happy Birthday Dieter!

Dieter is four today! We had a little birthday breakfast for him this morning. He chose waffles.
We lit the candles in his birthday wreath and sang to him. He said "this is a very nice birthday breakfast." Little sweetie. I love that kind of spontaneous thanks from children.

After breakfast he got to open a present.
Ken and the boys are off to find the snow. And I'd better get party preparations underway. Tonight we are celebrating two birthdays--Dieter turning four and Jacob turning 19 on Monday. Hooray for January boys!

Aww how fun! What was the gift he opened...I was trying to read the container but I can't. I'm thinking my little ones need birthday crowns made for their birthdays this year. Love those!

We have that same snowman mug! Love the Stonees.

I don't have January boys, but Harrison turns 4 in March and Big Brother turns 19 in June - how funny.

Enjoy your day! Happy Birthday to both.

Yes, they are Stonees! They're fun, although a little hard for Dieter to stack up. He enjoyed knocking down my stacks, though.

Golightly--how funny that you have a 19 and a 4 year old as well! It's fun, isn't it, having some perspective on how fast it all goes . . .

Love your blog. I have a question regarding your birthday ring. I'm looking ahead as my son is only four months. Did you make the "people" for your ring? I don't know how to outfit ours.

Thanks and love the birthday crown.

Happy birthday to both your boys.

Hi Shawn. Ours is a "bought" birthday ring, a Kathe Kruse. I was actually just thinking today that they are much nicer than any peg people I could ever make myself. But just to give you ideas and inspiration if you do make yours, each "person" is a little flower or fruit. It's quite fun to try to identify what each one is--a strawberry, a dandelion, etc. Good luck!

Mary Beth,

Thank you so much for responding. I can't wait to start some new family traditions.
