The First Advent Day

Just thought I'd share these pics of Rainer opening the first little advent package. Dieter was really excited to get started with advent and kept reminding us, so we did it in the morning, before I left for work. Rainer got to go first because he is the youngest. These first two days are the wooden animals that are new. Rainer got this reindeer and he really likes it. Dieter's wooden animal will be tomorrow. We are already having fun with this--I can hardly wait to see how the village evolves!

I really like the advent village idea and also that the children are allowed to play with it. My husband bought an Ostheimer stag yesterday to have as a St Nicolas present for the children to put on our seasonal table. They're so beautiful.

What a good idea...opening "gifts" you already own (for the last few years I've wrapped up our Christmas books and we open one a day for a readable advent calendar...but the 3-y-o twins aren't quite getting the "take turns" concept this year). And the Christmas village is sweet...can't wait to see how it grows.
