Some Studio Happenings

Studio happenings are few and far between these days, but I do have a couple things to report. For one thing: green velvet loveseat. Need I say more? I'm just getting my mind around this piece of gorgeousness. A huge thank you to my dad and mom, who gifted me with reupholstery on this piece of furniture that's been in the family for decades (first, as my grandparents'). And our nice upholsterer even saved the scraps for me, so I have projects in mind for future . . . (You can see the "before" shot here).
Baby legs are scrumptious, arent' they?
And thing number two: I finished the birthday garland in time for Rainer's birthday, which is coming up on Thursday. For now it is decorating my studio, and it really is bright and cheery. I'm pleased. I ended up buying pinking shears for this because the project kind of demands it--I certainly didn't want to finish the edges any more painstakingly than pinking them, but I did want some sort of finish because I'm planning on using this garland many times. So I got the pinking shears, and they are heavy and kind of hard to use and they reminded me so much of my mother's pinking shears from years ago . . . then I thought, hey, I wonder if she still has hers? It never occurred to me to ask, but I could have maybe saved some money. Oh well, I have them now.

Inspiration board view. Faith made that bookmark when she was in 3rd or 4th grade, I think. It makes me smile every time. It says "Faith frolics in a field in France."

Happy Monday!
