Scenes from Camp

Just some quick images from the cancer camp. I am really bad about not carrying my camera about with me at these types of things (can't be bothered), plus it rained for half of Saturday, so these are all from in and around the cabin.

Camp was held at a lovely location outside of Santa Barbara--it's considered a very "upper crust" campground but was free to us for this event (although we heard that this very for-profit facility "won't be able to accommodate" the cancer kids next year (even though they have been for 8 years--it sounds like their charitable giving will lie elsewhere). (Oh, sorry about the double parentheses--I'll just leave them in there).
This was our first year at the cancer camp (obviously, since he was just diagnosed in March), but there were lots of families there who had been coming for years and whose kids looked perfectly healthy. In fact, Rainer was the only baldy. It's good to see these kids and families thriving.

We brought "Orchard" to camp and played with the kids for the very first time. Rainer had a creative interpretation of the rules, so of course the raven did not win this time.

And now I must force myself to take a one-week blog break. October is here, I'm way behind on sewing Christmas presents, and the baby is turning 2 in two weeks! and there are some things I wanted to sew for him too. So see you next week.
