Rainer Update

I haven't posted a Rainer update in a long time because quite frankly, there is not much to update you on. And no news is definitely good news, and boring is good. He had a delightful summer of not much chemo. Every phase of his treatment has a name, and over the summer he was on "Augmented Interim Maintenance." He only had chemo about every 10 days, and no home meds except his usual antibiotic he takes on Saturdays and Sundays. So he frolicked all summer and felt really good.
So now he is in a more intense phase, "Delayed Intensification" as they call it, and on some yucky meds, but he tolerates his chemo very well and hasn't seemed too uncomfortable or cranky. He's rounding out a bit, on the med he is on, but he kind of needed that because he got very skinny over the summer. He actually looks really good right now.
He even still has a little hair.
He's an outdoor boy and a lover of flowers and zucchini soup and a talker and a figure-er outer of things.
You go, guy!

A blessing! Our neighbors son is going through the same treatment. 3yrs old(5months into treatment). His parents use a website called caringbridge.com so they don't have to answer the same question 100 times.Have you seen it? I love your zucchini pie post. What a lucky family to be feed with such nourishing food.
Here is to good health.

Steve and I talk all the time about how great boring is when so many things could make our life less boring, yet they might be unwanted things. We are having a non-boring time right now and I will always take boring over anything else! Rainer looks wonderful these days- so nice to know you no news lately is good news.

Wonderful to hear Rainer is coming through all this. I guess he won't remember anything about this time, but you guys will of course. I think I've said this before, we've certainly talked about it here in our home, but your focus and strength have played a huge part in his recovery I am sure. Sending you much much love, bless you Rainer, ClareX
