A "New Mother" Gift

My friend Dominique just had a new baby at 44! I'm so thrilled and excited for her. This weekend I went to visit and meet the new baby and of course I wanted to take a gift.
I've spent a lot of time contemplating what would be the perfect nurturing gift for new mothers. I tried to come close with this, but I wasn't able to to include everything I wanted to. But here's what I was able to include: hand decorated onesies for the baby and a pair of hand-me-down shoes (basically never worn by Rainer because they were too small), and, to nurture the new mother, home grown tomatoes, Oatmeal Bread (freshly baked from Artisan Breads in 5 Minutes a Day), freshly made zucchini soup, made with home grown zuccs of course, and some apricot freezer jam.
I do think she liked the gift and I hope the nutritious food comes in handy. She seemed very excited by the onesies, especially since she doesn't craft herself, I think. They are not perfect but on the other hand, they are onesies, so they don't really need to be perfect. I had fun selecting the fabrics and doing the embroidery.

And her new baby boy? Cooper Jameson--stunningly beautiful and sweet and cuddly. How I love holding newborn babies!

What a thoughtful gift! I love the dolphin one. And I'll have to try out that oatmeal bread. I drank the kool aid and am now making bread from Artisan bread in five minutes a day!

What a blessing those gifts must be to your friend. Just the love that went into them is enough!

great gift! i am working on a set of freezer paper stencils for use on a package of onesies for a friend.

and correct me if I am wrong, but I believe those are mistreated windows in the background? I can see the label on the edge of the fabric! :) In case you don't already know, there is a whole movement of moms who are doing their window treatments quick and easy aka "mistreating" them. this lovely lady started it all.

Mary Beth.....your gift(s) are so thoughtful! In fact we have a couple of friends who are due later this year and I've been contemplating doing onesies for a while now. I think the embroidered ones are more up my alley :)
And Im all up for all things creative this September. I too am taking the 30 Days of Nothing Challenge and yes some fun projects will definitely shift focus from all the budgeting :)
