Goodbye August

The summer has flown by and now it is over. What I will remember . . .

:: It was the summer of home baked bread, and bowls of dough rising and the smell of yeast and the loaves disappearing.
:: It was the summer of the clothesline and crunchy towels and squinting into the sun and clothes that smelled good.
:: It was the summer of our garden and using up all our produce and the baby eating bowlsful of zucchini soup and our best tomatoes ever and gleefully hunting through the garden to find treasures and fresh bouquets.

:: It was the summer of our little homespun parties--the sensory party and a midsummer night's celebration and Faith's sweet and simple birthday.
:: It was the summer of homegrown fruit and freezer jam and canning and lots of peaches but no plums at all.
:: It was the summer of Rainer walking and talking and going for his chemo and bouncing on the trampoline and loving life and being strong because.
:: It was the summer of Dieter being a "no-name eggnapper" and playing with his dinosaurs by himself and The Land Before Time and playing in the baby pool and loving books and jumping in the waves.
:: It was the summer of staying home.

I loved it all. What will you remember about this summer?

Your tribute to summer is glorious! Hopefully you will look back during January and February and it'll all come rushing back =)

it;s hard to believe that September is tomorrow, the months are going by just so fast. I think this summer will be remembered as Milo's first school holidays and the summer baby G learned to walk

I love that you stopped to reflect on the season--what nice reminder before we rush headlong into fall!

Great tribute to your summer.

I think I will remember it as the summer our two daughters came home - I was thinking about it a few days ago. What would I remember about this summer. I can't believe how fast the summer has gone. You have had a nice summer. I have enjoyed reading all that you have been up to this summer.

Your summer sounds perfect.

For us, it was a summer of:
-thunderstorms
-hermit crabs
-beach adventures
-taking chances

Ours was perfect too. : )

Hi
Mary Beth,
For Pelle and me, it was the summer of
- watering the plants, over and over again,
- and after that, pouring the water in buckets, over and over again
- playing in the small pool in the garden
-making lots of rides on the bus, just for fun
- running in the woods
- making ice cubes for Pelle and his friends, after reading your blog
- celebrating Pelle's birthday (he became 3)
- building new freindships
- feeling so much love for my boy
- reading your blog and feeling connected (I'm 44 and don't mind getting older, too)
Love, Ria
