The Clothesline

Just a little post today to say how much I am loving the clothesline that Ken made for me this summer. I feel so thrifty and green when hanging clothes out. Why pay to pollute the environment, waste resources, and heat up the house? I also have really enjoyed getting outdoors to hang out the morning load. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
I love these mother and baby loads the best. They're so colorful, and I like seeing that the things I have made are being used.
It connects to the new play structure so the boys can be playing while I hang out the wash. Perfect!

Have a great weekend!

Clothes hung on the clothes line have that great fresh smell- and I agree it is so nice to get outside to hang the laundry!

All those stripes and pretty colors, what fun! I wish we'd see more sunshine around here so I could hang my clothes, this has been the wettest summer ever :P

Some of my favorite memories as a child are playing house in between my Mom's freshly hung sheets and then sleeping in between those wonderful smelling sheets at night.

love your clothes line...we can't have one where we live but I use a drying rack and my plastic chairs :) which works out fine, but doesn't look as nice

Clothes lines are common place in Australia - we invented the very nifty 'Hills Hoist' and most Australian homes have one. Even a lot of high density housing have pull out/retractable clothes lines. Dryers were not common place in Australian homes when I was growing up. Now, sadly, most homes have them. We have been using ours a little more than I like as it has been very wet of late. Having rambled on, I love the sight of washing flapping on the line in the breeze. Always will remind me of growing up - with 5 children in our family there was always a lot of washing on Mum's clothes line!
