Scenes from My Birthday

There was coffee . . .
from this cute place (I've wanted to try it for literally months and finally got around to it),
thrifting with Faith (that sheet will be summer lounge pants);
mustard seemed to be the color of the day.
The first bouquet from our cutting garden . . .
Ken made me this meal (with squash from the yard).
There were presents . . .
and cake (chocolate of course).
Me at 43. It was a great day, and the aging thing doesn't bother me--life is full and interesting and a "fun challenge" as I am fond of saying.

I'm taking a week off from the blog now. See you next week!

Happy Birthday MaryBeth! Looks like you had a great one! I hope you enjoy your week off, we'll miss reading your entries for a week though, but I am sure you'll have lots to report when you come back. Oh, by the way, my mom has those dishes from Mikasa! Too funny!

Enjoy your week off!

Well, happy birthday! And for the record, I wouldn't have guessed 43 - you look great!

Good luck with the summer lounge pants project. The flowers are gorgeous - I miss that time of year here. And summer squash already - yum! The chocolate cake beats all, though.

And happy anniversary, too. Anyone who can make a meal like that is a keeper!

Happy Birthday and you certainly don't look like 43 (hmmm, not sure what 43 does look like but you look like a thirtysomething for sure!).

Belated birthday greetings Mary Beth. Hope you had a happy day. I've been enjoying your reports of your summer days with your family. I just love how you captured that feeling of anticipation about the summer months ahead. I love how you actually manage to put a lot of your plans and ideas into action.

In Bavaria the school holidays start in August and also my summer semester at uni ends then too! I spend most of July correcting written exams and holding oral exams and I just realised the other evening that I actually wish half the summer away! So, we're making a concerted effort to live in the moment and make the best of the time we do have to enjoy before the actual holidays.

Anyway, enjoy your 'week off'! I'm looking forward to reading the new posts when you get back.
