Eeek!

We are still in the hospital, but I did get a chance to go online briefly this morning, whilst holding Rainer.  When I clicked over to Soulemama, which is pretty much the first thing I check every morning, I was excited to see that she included this little picture of Rainer in her collage of pictures from the Creative Family Flickr Group. What a nice surprise to see my own cutie staring out at me from Soulemama's blog.

Rainer is still very much in the hospital and won't be released until Sunday or Monday at the earliest.  His blood cultures came back showing a gram negative bacteria, instead of the gram positive bacteria which was originally thought.  Apparently gram negative is the more dangerous category, at least in Rainer's situation, but the good news is that he appears to be responding to antibiotics.  He'll be getting a different antibiotic as well, now that we know what type of bacteria it is, and we'll know more tomorrow as the culture continues to grow in the lab.  Meanwhile, Rainer is mostly happy and playful, interacts with me and Ken, and is enjoying watching way more Baby Einstein than usual.  Later, the nurses will disconnect him from his IV and we can take him up to the rooftop patio for awhile.  I know he'll enjoy that.  Please continue to pray and send good thoughts Rainer's way and we will take good care of him.

Hope Rainer is well enough to go home soon. You've been in my heart and prayers so much lately. I know the internet is funny like that. You can feel connected even though you've never properly met.
