Happy Friday

Yesterday was the 3 month anniversary of Rainer's hospitalization and tomorrow will be the anniversary of his diagnosis. Just 3 months and our world has turned upside down. I can't believe it's only been that long, but it has. We're doing well, though, managing the bumps and planning for the future. It's a long road, but by the time he's in kindergarten we hope and pray he will be cured. 3 months down, 3 years (or so) to go.
So, three months in, Ken and I are finally getting a date night. Woo hoo! Rainer and Dieter will stay with my parents for a couple of hours while we go see a movie. I know Dieter will be fine and I think Rainer will be too. Last time my mom took care of him for an hour or so they went for a stroller walk then played ball in the back yard and it was fine. Faith will help too. We are going to see the "Sex and the City" movie, which opens tonight. I've heard some rumblings that it's not that great, but I don't have high expectations. I think it will be fun to check in on "the girls" and the clothes and see what their characters are up to. I loved the finale of the entire series so I know there is no way it could live up to that. But hopefully it will be light and fun. It will be very very fun to be out even briefly with no children.
These are some scenes from our yard I took a week or two ago. We're going to have lots of fruit this year. Exciting! I'm going to try to use and give away all of it. In years past we've had tons of fruit just fall off the tree and rot--especially the plums--there is no way to keep up with them--they just fall spontaneously. But we're going to try.

Have a great weekend! After this, only 2 more weeks of school.

Your date night sounds like it will be a good time-I can't wait to hear how the Sex and the City movie was. I, too, am looking forward to seeing it. And your fruit looks fantastic, I'm already trying to think of things to make with all the apples that will be ready in the fall

Enjoy your time at the movies. I am surprised that you were able to sucker him into seeing Sex in the City over Indiana Jones!

Lucky you with all that fruit in your yard! How do you keep the birds away? I am having such a struggle with that!

I hope you have a wonderful time. When you have kids you sometimes forget to make time for just the two of you, but I think then you appreciate it even more when it does happen. Have fun & let us know what you think of the movie!
