A Little Breakfast Picnic with my Baby

So many of our mornings these last few weeks have consisted of rushing around like mad to get ready for the nurse who usually comes at 9 to give Rainer his chemo or draw his labs. But this morning there was no nurse visit and no chemo. His physical therapist was scheduled, but not until 10. So we decided to get outdoors for a little breakfast picnic. And what a delight it turned out to be. The days have been hot, but it was lovely and cool at 8 o'clock. We had coffee and banana muffins and fruit. Little guy played. It was relaxing. I think we may have several more--as many as we can pack in--in these last days before I have to go back to work.
Speaking of work, I'm thinking if I have to go back (which I do), a little dress shopping at Boden is justified, to soften the blow. Any dresses I buy now will be most appropriate when I return in the fall as well. In my catalog perusal, I noticed this blouse, which is very similar to Simplicity 4589 (look at this version). I just thought it was a fun coincidence. I've had the pattern for awhile now and am spurred along to make it up soon.
Rainer played with his muffin a little--he's not eating at the moment (still nauseated).
And there was truck play . . .
and bean play. Soon soon we'll picnic breakfast again. But not tomorrow. Tomorrow is outpatient surgery and more platelets for the little man. He's brave.

I had no idea that Boden had made its way over to the States. Isn't it fantastic. For myself I don't get on with his adult sizing, but love the children's mini-boden clothing.

Good luck with Rainer's outpatient treatment. x

Oh, what a wonderful breakfast. And I just love those quilts! I clicked on the pattern link only to discover that I made myself a top with that pattern last week! I'm giggling--and I've already cut fabric to make another. I do like the embellishments added in the photos. I'll have to try that sometime--since this was the first top I've successfully completed and worn, I'll have to build my confidence level more before getting too crazy.

As always, thoughts and prayers are with you and the little guy.

Yes, I have made that top too- twice. It is a good one...but you might want to make it a bit longer than the pattern calls for. That was my only complaint. A breakfast picnic is a lovely idea. Now, if only I could have the warm temperatures and fabulous quilt that you have!

All the best for tomorrow for the bravest little chap I 'know.' Those sunny California days remind me of past times when I had a was in love with a man in San Deigo... (Mind you I am now have a much better man in the form of my husband and we have sunny Sydney days to look forward to after this winter comes and goes..)

R IS a strong, tough, big, little guy. Hugs to him/you. That's a miniboden shirt on the guy too isnt it-i LOVE that store but its often too expensive for me. I LOVE your bf picnic in the hotness of the summer-so simple and perfect! :) Made me smile.

Hey Kim. Actually his little shirt is LL Bean, which I think is a bit more reasonable than Mini Boden. Thanks for your kind comments!

I hope you'll post a picture of your "homemade Boden" blouse when you make it.

I hope all went well the Rainer's treatment.
