Friendship Recipe Book

Something my friend Carrie and I have been doing since I moved to California is keeping this little recipe notebook. Here's how it works. Whenever she comes to California for a visit she brings her book; then, near the end of the visit I record whatever recipes we ate that trip that she liked and might want to make again. We've been doing this quite awhile now so she has several recipes. Not only is it a compilation of tried and true meal ideas for her, but it's totally a memory book of our visits. We were flipping through it the other morning over tea, and I was surprised and pleased that she had actually made several of the recipes. I knew she enjoyed owning the book--she always brings it and requests I write in it--I just didn't know if she ever used it. Happily, she does! This trip I wrote out the recipe for African Chicken Peanut Soup; a real favorite and great for lunches during the week.

Vacation is over--we'll be out of the house by 6 this morning and I'll be dropping my friend at the train station on my way to work. Bye Carrie . . . it's been another great visit!

that is a great idea! especially for someone who visits a fantastic cook such as yourself. i think my bf in ny and i would need to have a restaurant meal book instead to record our visits.

thanks for the recipe links - you always have great ones!
