Valentiney Waxed Paper

I am always on the lookout for interesting ways to wrap baked goods for holiday giving. This one is really cute and fun. It comes from the current issue of Martha Stewart Living. First, take a sheet of tissue paper and fold it in half three times. Punch out hearts with a craft punch (I had a little trouble getting my craft punch to cut cleanly through tissue paper, but I just carried on).
Gather your hearts together and head to the ironing board. Spread out a sheet of waxed paper (over paper towels) and lay your hearts all over it. Top with another sheet of waxed paper and more paper towels then iron the whole thing with a medium heat setting.
Voila! Sheets of pretty waxed paper to wrap baked goods in. I'm thinking little mini loaves of quick bread or stacked squares of shortbread.
For now these are very easy to store in a roll. These would be especially cute with heart printed tissue papers (as they show in the magazine) but so far I was lucky even to find pink and red--Michael's was shockingly low on tissue--I don't know why. I love Valentine's day, so expect much more in the coming weeks. Happy Valentine crafting!

I marked that page in the magazine because I thought it looked great too. I'm glad to know it really turns out that cutely in real life!

Very cool. I love Valentines day too. I have been watching Martha's show at night on FLN, so will have to check this idea out. Thanks for the tip!

That turned out darling! I haven't gotten MS for a while because I was getting really overwhelmed with the amount of time and money that goes into the craft that never turns out the way I want it to. I am glad to see this one does and I think I will do it myself!

Wow, that's fantastic! I had no idea that baking paper would stick to one another when ironed either - I must try that!

Happy birthday to Ben too!
