The Top

I managed to sew the top this weekend. Hooray! It feels so good to complete a project. I used the Simplicity pattern I posted here and added the dress sleeves as I expected. I like it.
It seems like a lot of bloggers I read don't like what they make (clothing wise, not crafts) but I really like making and wearing my own clothes (I don't get to very often, but when I do it gives me a lot of pleasure). Does that just make me kind of geeky? It's okay, I know I am. I have overslept for work, so I can't contemplate this further. I do predict lots of weekend wearing of my new top.

What a great job Mary Beth. It looks lovely and the blue is just beautiful on you. You've inspired me to think about sewing clothes for myself (haven't made anything successful in years). Would you recommend the pattern for non clothes sewers?

I love the sleeves. What kind of neckline does it have? The fabric is great too.

I hardly ever pull the cover off of my sewing machine. But I want to. *Sniffle.*

That's gorgeous Mary Beth...and as you know, the ability to follow a pattern (and then to make your own additions - double cleverness!) has my utter admiration! Like Amy, I would love to see what the neck line is like. Enjoy your weekend wearing...and so pleased that you chose to blog, even when late for work! x

I love your top. I've made the short elasticated sleeves version twice. I want to make the dress next, without the zip, just a longer version of the top. Polly x x x

Lovely!

My mom really likes making and wearing her own clothes too. And I like the clothes she makes for me. She's good at making clothes. I think I just never get the right fit and it's frustrating for me. I have made a few things that I like to wear and I do keep trying. With crafts I don't have to worry about fitting anything, so even if it's not exactly how I wanted it, I still am pleased with it because it's useful.
