Feeling Thankful

So many things to be thankful for this morning. My family, how healthy the children are, how the teens are turning into lovely young people--and how they seem so much more well adjusted than I was at that age! For our home. And the way Rainer's laugh is so hearty and chortle-y. And Dieter's imagination and the way he does animal imitations and the way he pretends all his daycare buds are over here playing with him. And my job. And the fact that I have NPR for my commute, even in the afternoon, which didn't used to be. And the fact that my parents are only 30 minutes away and that they live so close to the beach and that they are so generous with their house and time and for all their help with the children. And our long growing season and our great farmer's market and for walking. And for my sweet and wise husband who suggested yesterday that perhaps it's best not to write about things I wouldn't say to someone in person (thanks, Ken). And for our little outing downtown last night to get dinner and for being home this morning and for the way the sun streams in through our still-shutterless windows. I'm thankful for it all.
Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be stress-free and filled with good food and human connection.
