I got it into my head this weekend that I wanted to focus on cleaning various cluttered "corners" around the house and maybe even post them along the way as a way to spur myself along. Well, with life going on and whatnot, I didn't get to very many of the offending corners, but I did become a bit obsessed with the dresser tops of Dieter and Rainer, which were piled with old clothes, stained and outgrown by both of them. I really didn't want to stuff them all into bags all stained as they were, but I've never been much of a laundress when it comes to old stains, so for weeks they've just been piled there.
Enter "
Oxo Brite," which I found at
Trader Joe's but hadn't used yet. On Saturday I soaked batch after batch of stained onesies and baby shirts and wow! It worked! I'm so delighted--not only do I have a really nice set of hand-me-downs to donate to charity, but of course this means wonderful things for my baby laundry from here on out. Big simple pleasure--there's just something about taking now-clean clothes out of the dryer when you thought they could never be salvaged. Good stuff.
And now, one clean corner I can post. Rainer's dresser top . . .

looks like everything is in order! I love your little green and white stuffed tree... I think I am going to have to make me some of those for Christmas... cute!
I'm going to get some of that stuff because I've always been terrible at removing stains and it sounds like this may be the solution.
That little fabric tree is so cute! I'm planning to make some of those for decorating this year.

I did the same thing this weekend - sorted through clothes trying to decide what to donate, what to keep, etc. It's a big job and you even laundered everything! Wow - impressive!
