Cinnamon Rolls--No Rise!

I've been wanting to make cinnamon rolls recently--I love a weekend baking project--but yeast rolls are such a big project, you know? With two rises and all. I still want to make "real" cinnamon rolls at some point, but yesterday I opted for this fun recipe from Teens Cook. The author says she got this recipe from her German exchange family when she spent a semester abroad. It has a quick and easy dough that is not a yeast dough, thus no rise time. Just mix it, roll it out, add the filling, roll up the dough, and slice them. Okay, that's really not that quick, is it? But no rise time, to be sure. You can find the recipe here (along with a little interview with the authors).
They turned out beautifully, I thought, and tasty too, although you can tell they're not a yeast roll. I froze the leftovers and am hoping this will be another yummy baked good out of the freezer for quick midweek breakfasts.
We had a lovely Thanksgiving and a weekend filled with sunshine and children. No "Black Friday" shopping here, thank goodness. Happy Monday!

Those look fabulous! I've made the yeast ones a few times, and although they are delicious, they never seem like they are worth *quite* that much work.
