Baking Afternoon

Lately I can't resist a holiday themed cutout cookie! There is something so heartening about a cup of tea and a little seasonally appropriate treat. And since I have a turkey cutter . . .
I made gingerbread turkies. Cleverly, I froze half the gigantic batch of dough for gingerbread cottages in a few weeks. I'm feeling pretty smug about that since mixing up the stiff dough is by far the hardest part.
I deciced to ice these simply. Kind of appropriate before the riotous colors and decorations of Christmas. We still are very much into fall around here.
Rainer helped, as did Dieter when he got up from his nap. He enjoyed playing with cutters and bits of dough. (Rainer actually provided moral support--no dough for the baby).
