Rainer's Birthday Pillow

Finally! I finished a project! Hooray! I was very sad not to have this done for Rainer's birthday last week, but as evidence of my good mental health, I didn't freak out. The baby doesn't know if his birthday pillow is done, I told myself, nor does he care.
Here it is. I had lots of fun choosing the patterns and the design. That was the first week. Last week I added the embroidery. This week I finally was able to complete the back and sew it all together.
Oh, and I made my own pillow form too. That was interesting--I think I got it a little overfull. The back just ties closed. I was thinking about doing a zipper, but this stressed my mind a lot less. And hopefully the baby will like pulling on the knots.
Mostly what I'm thinking about this morning is that wow, my time for crafting has really diminished to almost nothing. It's sad, but I have to remind myself that I do work full time, with a pretty hefty commute, and my two little ones need me. Then, if anything at all gets added to the weekend (this week we had a pumpkin party to attend), poof, my crafting time is basically gone. So, I'm trying to be mellow with it. Bird by bird.

Great pillow. Great philosophy. Are those little sheep on the long pattern? Too cute!

The pillow is wonderful! And the baby doesn't care if it was done a bit after his birthday. He'll love it forever because his Mommy made it for him. : )

The pillow is great! I am amazed at what crafting you manage to pull off. I don't ever seem to have time, and I'm home all day!

I love your pillow! Such great colors and I love the embroidery!

And I'm amazed you get any crafting done at all. When I worked full time, I never had the time or energy for much crafting and that was before I had children!

It's gorgeous. And it looks lovely with the quilt.

That is just the sweetest pillow! What a treasure. I am in admiration of all you do--sewing, gardening, trips to the farmer market, a career, making your own baby food, and putting together those sweet little pumpkin bags for the neighbors. and maintaining your beautiful blog. oh, I almost forgot about the parenting stuff.

Really, it is an inspiration to see how much we are capable of. I hope you enjoy trick-or-treating tomorrow.

Cute Pillow...I had been reading your most recent posts about Rainer (he is in our prayers) and was curious as to his age. He is 15 days younger than my youngest little boy, which makes your cancer situation all that more "close to home" to me. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
